Kelso Cochrane at 100: Centenary Celebration and Mosaic Unveiling

On Saturday 26 September 2026, the day Kelso Cochrane would have turned 100, the Kelso Cochrane Legacy Project and the North Kensington Social Justice Archive held a celebration of his life and legacy in North Kensington, with the unveiling of the restored mosaic made in his memory, speakers, music and birthday cake. ABNA (UK) members joined the celebration.

Kelso Cochrane was a carpenter from Antigua who came to Britain in the 1950s and hoped to study law. He was murdered in a racist attack in North Kensington in 1959, and his death became a defining moment in the struggle for racial justice in Britain.

Organised by the Kelso Cochrane Legacy Project with the North Kensington Social Justice Archive.
